Measurement Game

Learning Goals: Number Sense, Measurement, Fine Motor Skills

    • Stick masking tape of different lengths onto a desk, labeling each one with a letter (a, b, c... etc.).
    • Provide students with a ruler or measuring tape and have them measure each piece of tape.
    • Students can document their thinking on a piece of paper, or just use this activity as practice for measuring.
    • The educator can stay with students during the activity and support their learning by asking prompting questions.

We are the Play Learning Lab, run by Dr. Angela Pyle at the Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/University of Toronto.
